I don't have any boyfriends. I like being with girls: Shah Rukh Khan

Seated at a restaurant in London surrounded by some 10 women, including his wife Gauri, when Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh says that he "likes being with girls", you simply have to believe him.

"I don't have many boyfriends. I like being with girls - and probably that's why people think I'm a little girlish. But I don't have any such male bonding with anyone..., " Shah Rukh said in the first episode of Discovery Travel & Living's upcoming series "Living With A Superstar - Shah Rukh Khan".

Most of Shah Rukh's closest friends are of the opposite sex - Kajol, Farah Khan, Juhi Chawla, Rani Mukerji and so on.

Among his best known male friends is filmmaker Karan Johar, with whom he has done many hit films like "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai", "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham" and "Kabhie Alvida Naa Kehna". Shah Rukh's most awaited film of the year "My Name Is Khan" is also Johar's baby.

The new TV series "Living With A Superstar..." chronicles Shah Rukh in his real, day-to-day life. It aims at taking viewers into the private spaces of the 44-year-old, who is fondly known as King Khan by many of his fans and colleagues.

The 10-part series, which has Shah Rukh's voiceover, will go on air Feb 26 at 9 p.m. with a slice of his life from a family vacation in London.

He is seen taking a rickshaw ride on the street, cheering for a street performer, playing football with his children Aryan and Suhana at Hyde Park, bingeing on food, smoking, visiting Madame Tussaud's wax studio - and most of all just being himself.

In subsequent episodes, viewers can know about Shah Rukh's relationship with his children, wife, sister and friends, unique style of shooting, time management, interactions with fans and staff and about his house Mannat.

The series, jointly produced by Shah Rukh's Red Chillies Entertainment and Blue Mango Films, is the biggest ever by the channel, according to Rahul Johri, senior vice president and general manager, Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific.

"This is the biggest thing we have done. We have shot in Dubai, San Jose, San Francisco, London, Mumbai, New Delhi - we had been following Shah Rukh wherever he went since March 2009 and he gave us complete access, " Johri told the media, without divulging the investment made for it.

The series will have eight repeats in a week, justifying the fan following that Shah Rukh commands across the globe.

I had a selfish interest in doing Rann: Neetu Chandra

Joginder Tuteja

Rann is one such film which despite accommodating a dozen odd characters still has Big B (seemingly) dominating the frames.

If promos are any indication, Amitabh Bachchan would be clearly spearheading the entire show, despite the fact that one does catch a glimpse or two of other important characters played by cast which is principal/supporting or established/younger.

This is why one wonders- when other designated leading men like Ritesh Deshmukh and Sudeep (seen earlier in Varma's 'Phoonk') are clearly playing second fiddle to Bachchan, where does that leave leading ladies like Gul Panag and Neetu Chandra?

For the two actors, Rann was a mega project to be a part of, both from the subject as well as strength standpoint. Now that the film's release is just a few days away, do they feel short changed because of limited visibility that they have gained en route to the unveiling of 'Rann'?

Pat comes a denial from Gul who has always been known for choosing her roles quite carefully and hence has done only a handful of films in her six year long career. "Just because the promos aren't quite giving out my role in the film, it is untrue that I have a minimal presence in Rann.

I believe it is good promotion because so many times it happens that promos put you all over but when people walk into the theaters, they are left searching for you.

At least that's not the case here, so you should better wait and watch before arriving at any conclusion, ” says Gul who has traditionally steered away from any controversies. No wonder, the case isn't any different in case of 'Rann'.

Further elaborating upon the confidence that she has in Varma and the way she has been projected in the film, Neetu says, "Mr. Varma is a brave director and he makes films in a way that he wants them to be made. He is quite courageous. Moreover, as an actor I had a selfish interest as well.

Everyone wishes to work with Big B at least once in his or her career and I am fortunate that I got this chance at such an early stage of my career. With so much going in my favour, I can't be cribbing about limited space in the film's promotional plans."

While his leading ladies aren't showing any signs of complain, one wonders what does Ram Gopal Varma have to say about his biggest and hugest multi starrer till date?

For someone whose last star studded affair, Sarkar Raj, was a reasonable success with the coming together of Bachchan family, would he be denying the fact that it is Bachchan whose role seems to be most dominant in Rann?

"But isn't that obvious, " questions back Ram Gopal Varma, "With the kind of personality and the stardom that he enjoys, it is but natural that Bachchan would be spearheading the entire film.

Women are supporting characters in Rann which is indeed a men's film. They may not be directly involved in the conspiracy or the entire drama that ensues in Rann but they definitely bring in a humane aspect to the proceedings."

"Every other character is important; otherwise it wouldn't have found a place in the film. There won't be any character that would feel short changed or left out in the film", assures Ramu.

With the entire team of Rann seemingly a happy family, Neetu brings on a smile while concluding, "People will walk in for Rann for various reasons. For some it would be the the Big B factor; for others it would be Ramu at the helm of affairs.

For us actors too it works as a great platform because you are not just compared to your female co-star but also all other actors who have distributed screen time. A huge setup like 'Rann' benefits all because there is something for everybody."

I don't wear burqa after marriage: Ayesha Takia

Was Ayesha Takia spotted in a burqa after marriage? Have her in-laws clamped down on her freedom to act in films? These are the rumours that one hears in the film industry.

Ayesha Takia is more amused than exasperated by attempts to put her into the retired-actress' bracket after marriage.

The word being spread is that Ayesha has married into an ultra-conservative family where acting is perhaps not permitted.

“I'm amazed at the games people play. The other day someone asked me if I've started wearing a burqa after marriage, ” laughs Ayesha.

“Far from feeling clamped I now have the freedom to do more things than before. My parents-in-law are cool about my business ventures with my husband and my film career.”

“And that's so ridiculous, ” says Ayesha with a laugh. “Farhan and I went around together for five years before marriage. So there goes the convervative card. Suddenly after we make it official I hear all kind of rumours including the fact that I'm out of Revathy Varmha's film and that I've been replaced by some other actress.”

Says Ayesha, “I've never felt the need to grab roles.I've got what I wanted. And it will continue that way. I always felt Wanted would be the first big hit of my career. Ironical that it should come now after my marriage.

And I've got more to do in it than the leading lady in a Salman vehicle would be expected to. In fact I was blown away by the way I was presented.

And why should I give up a dream role like the one in Revathy's film? She's new to the Mumbai industry and quite nervous about these controversies.”

Revathy Varhma and Ayesha's mother are very close friends. “Revathy comes home regularly. We all laugh at the way the casting is being questioned by people who probably have nothing better to do.”

Ayesha now intends to focus on new business venture. “I started working in films when I was only 15. And I just realized I've been at it since then. I need to venture out. It's time to try out new things in life.

Today a young woman has so many opportunities to do so many things. I'm fortunate to have a name and a face that's recognizable. I want to use that to my advantage and start a clothes line by the middle of next year.”

Ayesha, her mom and sister Natasha are going to be partners in the garment business. Laughs Ayesha, “All three of us are very excited about doing the clothes line. We love fashion It's basically for the girls in the family.”

Ayesha's husband Farhan will be there to help his wife and her family with the clothes line. “Yes, Farhan's there to help us women in every way possible.”

Marriage hasn't changed Ayesha. “I'm the same. I always will be. Post-marriage I'm exactly the same. That could be because I was seeing Farhan from long before. Psychologically we were married long before. It feels like we were serious about each other forever.”

My remuneration has become zero: Akshay Kumar

Infamous for his exorbitant fee, actor Akshay Kumar reveals after turning a producer with his banner Hari Om Productions that his fee has become zero.

"My remuneration has become zero now because I have become a producer. I make films, release them and whatever profit comes from it is mine. So I can’t charge myself to do a film," Akshay, whose "Housfull" did a good business at the box office, told.

"Moreover there is no stress when you become a producer of a film because there is no tag to what kind of money you are charging. What actually kills a producer is an actor’s remuneration. When it becomes zero there is no stress. The budget cuts down absolutely by more than half," he said.

The star is currently co-producing Farah Khan's "Tees Maar Khan".

Abhishek would be perfect as my Salim: Sonam Kapoor

If Sonam Kapoor ever gets the chance to play the role of commoner Anarkali from K. Asif's magnum opus "Mughal- e-Azam", she would love to have Abhishek Bachchan essay the role of prince Salim and his father Amitabh as Mughal emperor Akbar.

"I love 'Mughal-e-Azam'. It is one of my favourite films and I would love to play Anarkali's role if and when such a role is offered to me. I think Abhishek Bachchan would look really good as Salim, " Sonam told reporters here Tuesday.

And who does she think would be good as Akbar?

"Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, without a doubt!, " said the 25-year-old in a chirpy tone.

The one and only time Sonam and Abhishek have been paired together was in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's "Delhi 6" which failed to excite the audiences and rake in the moolah.

Meanwhile, Sonam's younger sister Rhea Kapoor has a different take on who must be cast as Salim.

"I think Ranbir (Kapoor) would be awesome. He is more shy and mushy and cute. Abhishek looks as though he can stand up to his father and fight for his love but Ranbir is quite sweet. I go for Ranbir, " said Rhea.

Both the sisters were here along with the team of the film "Aisha", releasing Friday.

While Rhea has produced the film, Sonam plays the lead alongside actors like Abhay Deol, Cyrus Sahukar, Arunoday Singh, Ira Dubey, Amrita Puri and Lisa Haydon.

Everyone except Abhay was present at the event as he is busy shooting in Spain for Zoya Akhtar's next, tentatively titled "Zindagi Milegi Na Dobaara."

"Aisha" is based on Jane Austen's classic novel Emma.

I don't believe I need a son to complete my family: Kajol

As motherhood approaches again Kajol is not praying for a son. She is equally enthused by the idea of another girl child in her family.

“I'm just hoping for a healthy happy baby and a healthy happy momma to look after the baby. I've a wonderful daughter. How can I say no to another girl just like her?

I don't believe I need a son to complete my family. My sister Tanissha and I made quite a complete family. And so did my mom (Tanuja) and her sister (the late Nutan).”

And for those who are hoping to see more of Kajol on screen after she becomes a mother a second time there's disappointment in store. Kajol doesn't intend to increase her volume of work after motherhood.

“I've worked a lot. I enjoy doing just 1-2 films a year. I don't think I want to do more than that. I'm happy with my pace of work. If I do too many films people would get bored of me.”

There is no plan of a comeback after motherhood.

“It all depends on how I feel after I have my baby. I refuse to take a decision here and now. It's my prerogative to do what I like. I firmly believe women should have babies when they can take care of them. As simple as that.

I want my baby to arrive and I want to watch him or her grow. I took time to have a second baby because I wanted to have the time to give myself fully to motherhood. I refuse to miss out on the joy of watching my child grow for anything in the world.”

Bollywood belles and sportsmen have been a great combination since the days of Tiger Pataudi and Sharmila Tagore. Since then we have seen several liasions, some for keeps, others for a shorter duration.

Azharuddin-Sangeeta Bijlani, or the more recent Deepika Padukone and Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh and Geeta Basra!

But apparently the latest duo on celluloid is Southern beauty, Asin, and Indian cricket captain, MS Dhoni. Dhoni was spotted at Asin's apartment to watch the first IPL semi-final between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians.

Dhoni arrived at Asin's Lokhandwala home before the match. His presence created a buzz in the locality and a crowd gathered on the premises. Dhoni stayed till the end of the match and made a quiet exit.

The grapevine is abuzz with speculation about the two good-looking youngsters. They met and bonded as brand ambassadors of Big Bazaar.

Our reporter was told that they enjoy each other's company and often hang out together! Asin also made an appearance at Dhoni's birthday celebrations last year!

Asin has been linked to fellow actors John Abraham and Neil Nitin Mukesh in the recent past. John and she are reportedly slated to do Vipul Shah's remake of Kaakha Kaakha.

The two stars bonded over their passion for racing bikes. John even invited her to his home to show off his enviable collection of mean machines! Asin was also spotted enjoying a cosy dinner with Neil! Sure looks like Asin's on a roll.

Katrina finally accepts Salman's presence in her life

Katrina Kaif, who usually remains tight-lipped about her relationship with actor Salman Khan, says the star always guided her and genuinely believed she would join the big league in Bollywood one day.

"Salman had been always there, more than anything to guide because I didn't know anything about the industry. What would remain special in my mind is that from the very beginning Salman told me that I will achieve this success in the industry. And at that point it was too far off," Katrina told in an interview.

"That time I couldn't see myself one movie ahead, forget 15 movies ahead. I think that he believed it genuinely," the 25 -year-old actor said.

She entered Bollywood in 2003 with the dud "Boom". Her first big hit was 2005 romantic comedy "Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya" in which she teamed up with Salman. After that she gave a string of hits, including "Namastey London", "Partner", "Welcome", "Singh Is Kinng" and critically acclaimed "New York".

But Katrina feels nobody can plan success.

"It's (success) destiny, no one can plan it. There are many people who are connected with the industry because of their father, mother or other family members; still they are not able to achieve what is termed as success in the industry.

"You can come here, make two or three films, your co-stars could be your friends - all this you can plan but you can't plan which film would be successful. The miracle that happened with my life has been the success of my films. Because, had those films not been successful, no one would have done anything for me," said Katrina.

She is now eager to take more responsibilities and do more diverse roles like the one she is doing in Prakash Jha's "Raajneeti', where she plays a politician.

"Till now I have done a genre of films. People have accepted me, loved me and have given me so much support. I never imagined getting so much. But I feel that there are other types of films to do. See other contemporary actors, they have done much more diverse roles.

"People can say that the success ratio of my films has been very, very good, but I still feel people should see me on other kinds of films too...

"May be something like a remake of 'Sita Aur Gita'...In 'Raajneeti', I have more responsibility. But you will have to remember that there I am with six very important guys, all have very important roles," said Katrina.

The actress maintains she always wanted to do something unusual in life.

"I always used to make a world in my head and live in that. I always wanted to be something unusual. Some of the dreams I remember, they may sound stupid - I wanted to be a firefighter, I wanted to be a stunt woman, I wanted to go to NASA. Acting was something to fancy," said Katrina.

I won't work with a Rapist

Next month it will be a year since Shiney Ahuja was accused of rape by his housemaid. However, the ghosts of his past continue to haunt the actor. Recently the leading lady of his film Shunya, Vaishali Desai, walked out of the project because she didn't want to work opposite him.

Vaishali had made her debut opposite Jackie Bhagnani in Kal Kissne Dekha. She opted out of the project as she doesn't want to be associated with Shiney in any manner. Shunya is being produced by Pooja Bedi, niece of Bobby Bedi.

Change
The project was initially offered to Adhyayan Suman. But later they decided to go ahead with Shiney. Vaishali heard about the change and made it clear that she wasn't happy with their choice of hero.

It is learnt that the producers weren't convinced that Adhyayan was the best person for this role. So they approached Shiney. They wanted someone who was more mature and better known.

However, once they signed the accused actor, the leading lady bid adieu to the project.

A source close to her reveals, "She comes from a very conservative background and doesn't want to be associated with Shiney. She reasoned that she wouldn't be comfortable working with him. She thought it would be a bad move for her to be cast opposite him."

Vaishali confirms that she is no longer in the film. "I have opted out of Shunya, and it's because of some personal reasons I don't wish to reveal. It's true that the film was first offered to Adhyayan, but later on they decided to go ahead with Shiney."

Another 'friendship' goes bust for Sonam Kapoor!

Sonam Kapoor's friendship with Rana Daggubati ended before it could develop into anything more

Sonam Kapoor and popular south star Rana Daggubati (son of producer Suresh Naidu and the nephew of actor Venkatesh) were friends at a point in time. Rana made his debut early this year in the Telugu film Leader. He makes his B-Town entry with Rohan Sippy's Dum Maro Dum.

The actress and Rana became friends as their dads have known each other for years. Anil Kapoor has worked in several of D Ramanaidu's films and the two families are quite close.

Staying in touch
Sonam and Rana met for the first time during Milind Deora and Pooja Shetty's wedding reception in 2008 where they exchanged numbers and stayed in touch. Whenever Rana was in the city, he would try and catch up with Sonam.

However, their friendship didn't last too long. Even though there was nothing romantic between the two, the actress was a bit perturbed after she heard that Rana had a long-standing history of befriending girls and then pulling a disappearing act. After that Sonam took a step back and downgraded him from a friend to an acquaintance.

A source reveals, "When Rana and Sonam were friends, everyone thought their friendship might develop into something more. However, that never happened."

Sonam however maintains that they are still friends. She says, "Rana is a family friend and a brother."

Salman who is popularly known to get along with a selected bunch of people in the industry has this debutante on his list of friends now.

It seems that they get along like a house on fire and have a great chemistry off the sets too.

Our sources have also found out that Khan had a great time shooting for a rain dance sequence with the pretty lass and is also going all out promoting her on social networking sites.

It is no news that Salman is a good artist and painter and his work has got many industry persons let their eyebrow up.

He has also painted Amir Khan and Asin in the past and now Sonakshi is known to be the next probability.

Salman must really be fond of this lovely actress to have decided to put her on canvas. Whether genuine or a publicity stunt for the film, it is definitely getting the audiences talking.

One of Salman's painitng earlier at an auction fetched him a startling 2.5 crore which was for a good cause. But according to him his paintings are special and a prized possession to him which depict his state of mind.

Dabanng will be relasing in September 2010 and Salman and Sonakshi's chemistry will be something to look out for.

Kareena turns down Hot Cheryl Cole's invitation

B-Town stars usually don't miss out on an opportunity to get clicked with pop stars and international celebs especially at places as prolific as Cannes. Kareena Kapoor's happy being an exception. She missed out on meeting Cheryl Ann 'Tweedy' Cole at the international film festival in spite of an invitation from the British singer.

Says a source close to Kapoor, "Bebo was to attend the international film festival. 'Tweedy' Cole was already there to perform a 30-minute set at a party thrown by luxury jewellery firm de Grisogono on May 18 at the Hotel du Cap.

The singer had performed in front of a star-studded crowd including Naomi Campbell and fashion heir Margherita Missoni. The organisers heard that Cole was keen on meeting the Indian actress and an invite for the A-List event was sent out to her."

The source adds that Kareena, who's shooting for Rohit Shetty's Golmaal 3 in Goa, had to give it a miss.

"Though her managers were informed of the invitation, Bebo herself had to turn it down as the Golmaal 3 schedule in Goa had been fixed months ago and they were shooting the film's climax with the entire cast (20 people in all). There was no way she could have opted out and made it to the party in France."

Says Bebo, "I was invited to attend Cheryl's party but was in Goa and overworked. Of course, it would have been fun to go and I would have loved to attend. I love her songs and was very keen on meeting her. Maybe I'll meet her if I go to Cannes next year."

Cole kaun?
Cheryl Cole rose to fame in 2002 after becoming a member of pop group Girls Aloud through ITV's reality television programme Popstars: The Rivals.

With Girls Aloud, Cole has been successful in achieving a string of 20 consecutive UK top ten singles (including four number ones), two UK number one albums, and received nominations for five BRIT Awards, winning Best Single in 2009 for The Promise.

In 2008, she became a judge on the British reality television show The X Factor. Apparently Cheryl had even been paid a whopping amount of $375, 000 (£250, 000) as fees to sing at the party at Cannes this year.

Shahid is still smitten by Priyanka Chopra

Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra sizzled on screen as a cute pair in Vishal Bhardwaj's hit movie Kaminey and then there were rumors about them being lovebirds off screen as well. Though, they never confirmed anything about their romantic liaisons, the real life chemistry was obvious.

The rumors of their link up surfaced, when they were shooting for Kaminey, then it was almost confirmed when, Shahid moved in to Priyanka's building.

Though both of them have maintained the “we are just friends” façade, Shahid's step to be closer to her proved otherwise. In time, the relationship and the rumors died with the occasional “are they both back together?”

So, the latest is that, Shahid had been on a lookout for a bigger apartment, he has apparently put it on hold, because he doesn't want to part ways with Priyanka.

If friendship was the case, then Priyanka and Shahid seem to be BFF's. Let's hope that with time this “deep” friendship turns into a relationship, and hopefully they will accept it and give the gossipmongers something to chat about.

The hacker who got Meghna Naidu 'pregnant'!

Actress Meghna Naidu complained to the Cyber Crime Investigation Cell in Mumbai this week, about a hacker who got her ‘pregnant’.

Unknown to the actress, a hacker had breached her Gmail account a few weeks ago and was chatting away with her friends, falsely claiming that Meghna ‘was pregnant from a fling with a guy whose name she couldn’t remember’ and that she ‘needed advice’. How imaginative!

But when this impersonator said hello to the actresses’ ex-publicist Dale Bhagwagar on the chat, the PR specialist sensed something fishy about the way Meghna was chatting.

“PRs specialize in understanding the psyche of their clients. I take special efforts and time to comprehend how each client thinks, feels, behaves and talks.

This person on chat had a subtle devilish sarcasm, and as I know Meghna, she’s cool and clear, but hardly sarcastic,” said the publicist. So immediately after the chat, Dale called her residence to verify if it was Meghna on the chat, and her parents told him, she had gone for her yoga class.

When the actress returned the call an hour later, she was shocked to learn about the conversation. Meghna said, “I was paranoid when I checked my Google chats.

This imposter had been chatting with a lot my friends and claimed I was pregnant out of a fling. To add to this craziness, he wrote, I’d forgotten the name of the guy who made me pregnant. All this bogus talk was insane and scary.”

The publicist calmed the horrified actress and guided her to change her email privacy settings and escorted her to the Crime Branch the next morning. “We complained at the Cyber Crime Investigation Cell. Sadly and strangely, the cops there didn’t seem to be much interested about my case,” lamented Meghna. “I hope they are able to track the hacker,” she added.

I'm almost half-naked in 'Aisha'

Sexy shorts and tank tops - actress Lillete Dubey's daughter Ira Dubey has worn all this and even less for her first commercial Bollywood film "Aisha" in order to look flamboyant and wild, and says she felt almost "half-naked".

"My character in 'Aisha' is quite flamboyant and wild. So my clothes required to be bizarrely quirky and bold. Fashion is a huge element in 'Aisha', " Ira told on the phone from Mumbai.

She added: "I was told that whichever clothes you see on the ramp and say - 'Who will wear that?' - that's the confidence that my character Pinki Bose must have."

So, she did just that.

"My own personal style of dressing is very experimental. I like to have fun with my clothes. One day I came back from my trials and told my elder sister Neha that I have to wear really bizarre clothes for 'Aisha'. She said: 'That's easy because it will be just like you!' Then I told her it is 20 times more bizarre than I can get!" Ira said.

"There are clothes in funky and bold colours and they are really short. I keep joking that I'm almost half-naked in the film. There are really short pairs of shorts and I wear a bikini in a scene where we play beach volleyball, " she said.

"In 60-70 percent of the film, I am wearing shorts and wear one or two skirts as well, " added Ira, who insisted on wearing spectacles in the film to add zing to her character.

The 26-year-old theatre actress said she has developed a brave fashion sense after "Aisha", which is based on Jane Austen's popular novel "Emma".

"I have definitely become braver in style. I have a very petite frame and my co-actors used to keep saying 'you can carry them off well'. Even though I do wear a lot of funky stuff, I haven't been very bold, " she said.

"But I guess now I am a little more confident on that front, " said Ira, who requested producer Rhea Kapoor to let her keep a pair of chic navy blue boots that she wore in the film.

Before "Aisha", Ira featured in Rohan Sippy's "The President Is Coming" and also was a movie critic for Sony Pix's "Chicks On Flicks".

At the moment, she is "a bundle of nerves" and hopes she does not get typecast in Bollywood.

"It's very easy to get typecast in the Indian film industry. In my last film 'The President Is Coming', I played a sophisticated upper class girl. In 'Aisha' also, I play someone who likes high-end things. But now I really want to work with directors like Anurag Kashyap and Vishal Bharadwaj to play more grounded roles, " Ira said.

"I've done many strong, female-oriented roles in plays, so I am capable of doing simpler looking, tough roles and prove that I can handle a whole lot of diverse work, " she added.

"Aisha" also features Sonam Kapoor, Abhay Deol, Arunoday Singh and newcomers Amrita Puri and Lisa Haydon. Ira plays the role of Pinky Bose, a filthy rich girl who is best friends with Sonam's character Aisha.

Birthday girl Katrina hopes to find her 'True Love' this year

There was nothing that Katrina would have liked better on her birthday on Friday than to be with her family in London. In fact, she had planned and plotted for months and weeks to make her birthday wish come true.

But then, star proposes, producer disposes. Just when Katrina took a break from her shooting in Spain from Zoya Akhtar's Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara to spend the days leading to her birthday in London her plans were thwarted.

Now Katrina has to return to shoot in Pampolona for Zoya's film a day before her birthday.

Trying hard to conceal her disappointment about being deprived of her annual family get-together Katrina says, “Yes, I had planned well in advance to spend my birthday with my family in London. But some scenes for Zoya's film have been rescheduled and I've to go back on Thursday, a day ahead of my birthday, to Spain. Never mind. I'll be working on my birthday and that's the best way to bring in my birthday”.

Looking at the brighter side Katrina says, “My two youngest sisters Isabella and Sonia are coming back to Spain with me, so I have a part of my family with me. And I couldn't hope to be with a better unit on my birthday. Zoya Akhtar is one of the coolest directors I've worked with”.

Looking at the year Katrina says, “I got to work with two women directors Zoya and Farha Khan this year. And they were both such fun to work with. I also had a big hit Raajneeti. I couldn't have asked for more. In the coming year, I hope to find love. Every girl needs someone to share her life with”.

Katrina returns to India next month to face one of her biggest challenges as an actress. On August 11 she has to perform an item song with Akshay Kumar for Farah Khan's Tees Maar Khan.

Sighs Katrina, “It is like no other item song. It will have elements from both Indian and western dance forms. It will blend various styles and give me a chance to perform what could possibly be my most challenging on-screen dances. I can't wait to return and start rehearsing for the number”.

Katrina reveals her Biggest Birthday surprise ever

For her birthday this week Katrina Kaif got a surprise she would never forget. While Katrina was shooting with Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol at the Running Of The Bulls festival in the crowded streets of Pamplona in Spain, director Zoya Akhtar shouted in the dictaphone for the shooting to be halted.

Suddenly the noisy festive bustle went quiet and Zoya announced it was Katrina's birthday. Everyone was ordered to sing 'Happy Birthday' to Katrina.

Recalling the emotional moment with great pleasure Katrina says, “Suddenly there were 500 people Spanish, Indian and every nationality you can imagine, on this main street of Pamplona singing 'Happy Birthday' to me.

It was an awesome moment and the best birthday gift I've ever had. It was very considerate of Zoya to arrange this surprise for me.”

The whose cast was shooting together in Spain for Zoya Akhtar's Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara by participating in one of Spain's biggest festive events, the 'Encierro', or 'Running Of The Bulls' festival.

Expains a source, “Since Zoya's film is set in Spain the first thing that came to the team's mind was a bullfight. But they all thought that was too predictable. So they hit upon the 'Running Of The Bulls' festival.

What's cooking between Kangna and Salman Khan?

B-Town is abuzz about the growing dosti between Salman and the Ranaut girl. Is she simply yet another actress Sallu has taken under his wing?

Salman Khan and Kangna Ranaut are slowly but surely becoming close. Everyone is talking about these new B-Town dosts. This bonding is being discussed at dinner parties in star homes. There are various versions about where this unlikely pair met and became friends. It is a mystery because they haven't worked together.

Even Sallu's closest friends and family members aren't sure about exactly what is going on. Everyone is playing the wait and watch game because in the past too, Khan has adopted many actresses (Sneha Ullal, Zarine Khan, Sonakshi Sinha), supported them emotionally, guided them and even promoted them. Will this be any different or progress further? Read on to decide.

1.The actress has been signed for the next untitled Being Human production opposite the Dabangg actor. The film is a Hindi remake of Manjrekar's Marathi film Mee Shivajiraje Bhosle Boltoy.

Everyone thought he might cast his all-time favourite Katrina Kaif, or recent favourite Sonakshi Sinha, but he wanted his current favourite Kangna Ranaut, to work with him in his home production.

2. It was her big night -- the success party of Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai on August 4 but Kangna left the party early and was later seen at Galaxy Apartments where the Super-Brat lives. She was seen leaving his apartment building in the wee hours of the morning.

3 Khan doesn't make new friends. When it comes to partying, he sticks to a small group of friends. He doesn't allow for new members, yet at his younger sister Arpita Khan's birthday party on August 5, Kangna Ranaut mingled with his family.

Although Kangs and Salman kept a safe distance from each other, by the end of the evening, quite a few people were talking about this new entrant in the Khan clan.

4 On Sunday (August 15) Kangna was one of the few actresses who was seen at a Blood Donation Drive organised by the actor. She turned up looking pale perhaps because she has been under the weather. But she made the trip to show support for Khan.

The Other Side

Kangna remained unavailable for comment. However an industry insider clarifies:

"Kangna was approached for the Being Human production a few days ago and asked to allot her dates in August. Salman has known her for the last two years. They first met on the sets of Dus Ka Dum, where he promised to do a film with her. Ever since, they kept in touch. He often gives her advice on career and life.

After the success party of OUATIM, she went to Salman's house to discuss the film. She thinks he is a nice guy and enjoys his company. Sallu's younger sister is friends with the actress and it was Arpita who invited Kangs to her birthday party at a Juhu nightclub.

As for the blood donation camp, she got a call from Salman's people asking her to come and donate blood. So, she went."

I'm not bold enough for item numbers: Sonakshi Sinha

Shatrughan Sinha's daughter Sonakshi's launchpad "Dabangg" has one of the raunchiest item numbers, but she isn't a part of it. Ask her if she ever wanted to be in Malaika Arora Khan's shoes for the song, the shy debutante says a clear no.

"No I never wanted to be in the song. It's because I am a shy person. I can't be so bold and daring and I think Malaika is fabulous in the song ('Munni badnaam') and at what she does. But that's not me...I didn't want to do it, " Sonakshi, who is debuting opposite Salman Khan, told.

Considering so many actresses are giving a nod to item numbers, will she think of doing one in future?

"No. I am not open to item numbers. I am happy with what I am doing, " she said with a coy smile.

The 23-year-old studied fashion designing and was 30 kg more than what she is today. But a promise given to her by superstar Salman Khan changed her life.

"Salman had promised me that he will give me a break if I lose weight. So I started working hard...It took me two years to get into shape and he fulfilled his promise. Salman was very particular about my gym routine and pushed me into it as I was very lazy and lethargic, " she said.

Now the actress looks fit and beautiful - all excited for her first film to hit the screens in September. In "Dabangg", her role is of a village belle, Rajo, who plays an important part in changing the life of Chulbul Pandey, the protagonist played by Salman.

Sonakshi is candid when she says she always wanted a more glamorous debut but has no complaints about her first film.

"I did want a glamorous debut. Who doesn't want it? But then these days who knows what will work and what won't. The film has turned out well; it has an actor as popular as Salman and I feel it's a nice project to start off with. I think I made a good decision, " the youngster said.

But Sonakshi, who was in the capital for the music launch of "Dabangg", intends to be very selective about her future films.

"I don't have to struggle a lot and sign up films frivolously, I don't have to buy a house or car, I am well settled with my family. So I want to work at my own pace and so I will be and can be extremely choosy about my films, " she said.

So is the luxury of being choosy thanks to being Shatrughan Sinha's daughter?

"There are both sides to being a star kid. For my brother (Luv Sinha), 'Sadiyaan' didn't prove to be a successful launch. So it's easy for some, and tough for some. It's easy for star kids in the sense that our parents have been in the industry for a long time and they have contacts; so filmmakers are that much more accessible.

"But it also has a downside - people have a lot more expectations from you. For me, it has been a beautiful journey so far, and I believe no journey is complete without both ups and downs equally. So I am very happy, " Sonakshi said.

Tere Bin Laden

Starring: Ali Zafar, Pradhuman Singh, Sugandha Garg and Piyush Mishra

Director: Abhishek Sharma

Rating: ***1/2

There are some films that are winners right from the time their very first promo is unleashed and Tere Bin Laden is one such film!

Since the time many months back the hilarious promo of this Abhishek Sharma debut directorial venture came on, tremendous curiosity value for the film arose despite the fact that the film doesn’t carry any big face value. The film thankfully lives up to the promise and entertains making it a winner in all its departments.

The film narrates in a tongue-in-cheek manner a Pakistani reporter’s attempts to migrate to the US and chaos it all leads to.

Ali Hassan (Ali Zafar) is an ambitious young news reporter from Pakistan Ali (Ali Zafar) who is extremely desperate to migrate to the US in pursuit of the American dream. His repeated attempts to immigrate are shot down as his visa is forever rejected. But when things couldn't look worse he comes across Noora (Pradhuman Singh) who is an Osama bin laden look alike.

Ali then hatches a scheme to produce a fake Osama video and sell it to news channels as a breakthrough scoop! Unfortunately this leads to serious implications as the White House also gets involved and dispatches an overzealous secret agent on Ali's trail.

First timer Abhishek Sharma shows complete command as both a writer and director. Keeping the running time just around 100 minutes, he ensures maximum laugh out loud moments. His recreation of Pakistan deserves kudos. The script is the main hero of this Tere Bin Laden wasting no time in going into unnecessary deviations.

Pakistani singer Ali Zafar has been perfectly cast and shows remarkable comic talent. Pradhuman Singh is simply uproarious to watch. A great find. Sugandha Garg last seen in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na is another talent to watch out for. Piyush Mishra and Rahul Singh are fun too. Barry John as the American agent is good.

The music is fun too and Jaideep Sahni written Ullu Da Patha stands out the most.

Tere Bin Laden proves when you have a strong content you don’t necessarily need big stars. It’s a definite watch if you want to laugh your guts out!
